Every comfort in our lives has
degenerative impact to our physical, mental and spiritual progress. In the
sense, the comfort we get from luxuries has the power to degenerate our
physical strength. Similarly, to talk of the mental poisons; desire, anger,
attachment, hatred, etc, which are suppose to be giving temporary pleasure have
equally devastating effect to one’s mind and spiritual progress. The pleasure
of five senses, the taste, sight, fragrance, touch and sound leads us to demand
for more pleasurable sense objects, ignoring the basic pleasure we obtain at
initial phase. So we demand more luxuries, which in scientific term could be
related to development of resistance, as that of drug resistance over
frequent use.
